John Gorton Drive Bridge

John Gorton Drive is the major north-south road corridor through the Molonglo Valley.

The Molonglo Valley Future Urban Area is divided through the middle into north and south sections by the Molonglo River. Connections across the river are essential. The Molonglo River Reserve Plan resulted in the Three Bridges Concept. Effectively this made the way for the approval for the new bridges through an exemption to the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The bridges are:

• Butters Bridge - completed 2016
• John Gorton Drive Bridge - under construction
• East West Arterial bridge - early planning stages
