Lake Burley Griffin is the centre of Canberra and a major obstacle for transport networks. The National Capital Authority (NCA) has strict controls over planning in this area. The lake is a thorn in the side of ACT transport planning due to the many conflicts of transport with heritage (views) and environment, particularly adjacent Parliamentary Triangle.
